A Practice Built on Patience and Precision
Suvarna Legal was founded in Bangkok with a straightforward purpose: to help families handle estate and inheritance matters without unnecessary stress or confusion. The name draws on the Thai and Sanskrit word for gold — something lasting and worth handling with care. That idea informs how we approach each matter we take on.
The firm grew from a recognition that inheritance law in Thailand is often misunderstood by those who need it most. Families going through bereavement, or trying to plan sensibly ahead of time, encounter a system that can feel opaque and slow. Our role is to make that system navigable — in plain language, at a considered pace, and with the client's interests clearly in view.
We are based on Sukhumvit Soi 24, a location chosen for its accessibility from central Bangkok and its proximity to the courts and administrative offices our clients most often need to work with.
Our Mission
Thoughtful Legal Guidance at Every Stage
Our mission is to make inheritance law accessible and manageable. We take on a focused range of matters — estate planning reviews, documentation and filing, and contested estate representation — because we believe that doing fewer things well serves clients better than offering everything broadly.
Each client receives direct attention from a practitioner who knows their file. We do not move cases through a call centre or pass them to junior staff without oversight. Communication is clear and regular, so clients always know where things stand.
"An estate carries more than property. It carries a family's history. We treat it accordingly."
— Suvarna Legal
What We Stand For
Our Core Values
Calm Through Complexity
Estate matters surface during difficult times. We keep our approach steady and our communication clear, so clients can make thoughtful decisions.
Honest Assessments
We share realistic expectations rather than encouraging false optimism. Clients deserve accurate information, even when the picture is complicated.

How We Work
Professional Standards
Thai Bar Association Membership
All practising lawyers at the firm are members in good standing with the Lawyers Council of Thailand, and hold current practising certificates.
Client Data Protection
Personal information is stored securely and accessed only by those working directly on the relevant matter. We observe Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act throughout.
Plain-Language Communication
We translate legal requirements into understandable terms. Written summaries and updates are provided in language that serves the client, not the profession.
Internal File Review Process
All significant documents and submissions are reviewed by a second practitioner before they are sent. This applies to court filings, drafted agreements, and client-facing advice.
Conflict of Interest Checks
Before accepting any new matter, we conduct a conflict check to confirm that our representation will not compromise existing client relationships.
Continuing Legal Education
Members of our team engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with amendments to Thai succession law and court procedures.
Expertise & Approach
Inheritance Law in Thailand — What Clients Should Know
Thailand's framework for inheritance and succession is set out in the Civil and Commercial Code. It distinguishes between statutory heirs — those entitled to inherit where no valid will exists — and those named as beneficiaries in a properly executed testament. Where no will is in place, assets pass according to a fixed order of priority among spouse, children, parents, and more distant relatives.
Wills prepared in Thailand must meet specific formal requirements to be valid. A will that fails to satisfy those conditions may be set aside entirely, even if the testator's intentions were clearly expressed. This is a common source of difficulty for families, particularly when documents were prepared informally or many years ago.
The executor of a Thai estate is appointed by the court and holds a defined set of powers and obligations. Where heirs disagree on the appointment of an executor, or on how the estate should be managed, formal proceedings before the Civil Court may be necessary. The process is methodical rather than swift, and clients benefit from early, realistic advice about what to expect.
Foreign nationals owning assets in Thailand — including condominium units, bank accounts, and business interests — face additional considerations. The estate may need to be handled partly under Thai law and partly under the law of the deceased's home country, depending on how assets are held. Our team has experience navigating these cross-border situations and can explain what steps are needed in each jurisdiction.
Suvarna Legal works exclusively in the field of inheritance and estate matters. This focus allows us to develop and maintain a depth of knowledge that a general practice firm, covering many areas of law, would find harder to sustain. Clients benefit from that accumulated experience at each stage of their matter.
